Chelsea's FA Cup campaign will begin with a match against Chesterfield, a lower-league club. Thomas Tuchel is anticipated to utilise the match as a chance for young and marginal players to impress the manager. It will give Tuchel some much-needed relief to a Chelsea team that is already overworked.

The Blues have had a number of first-team injuries, which has limited their key players' availability. Tuchel will be concerned despite his side's 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final. In the triumph over Tottenham, the Blues suffered two additional injuries. In the encounter, German forward Kai Havertz wrenched his finger, and Cesar Azpilicueta looked to pull his hamstring.

N'golo Kante and Thiago Silva both tested positive for COVID-19 before the game. Trevor Chalobah and Reece James are both nursing hamstring ailments, while Andreas Christensen is still dealing with back concerns. After undergoing surgery to repair a ruptured ACL, Ben Chillwell has been declared out for the season. The majority of the injuries have harmed Chelsea's stout defence. Since November 20, the previously invincible team has only kept one clean sheet in the Premier League. Tuchel will seek to have as many members of his team back as soon as possible so that they can compete for championships this season. There are two important players: Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed the existence of two fresh COVID-19 instances.

Thomas Tuchel announced to Sky Sports before Chelsea's match against Tottenham that two Chelsea players have tested positive for COVID:

"Thiago Silva and N'Golo Kante, unfortunately, [have tested positive for Covid]. It's crucial for us since they're both major players. We received the most recent information this morning, so it will be difficult, but we will persevere. We have faith and trust in the guys who are here."

Tuchel continued:

"Unfortunately, Thiago Silva and N'Golo Kante [have tested positive for Covid]. Because they're both important actors, it's critical for us. It will be challenging, but we will persevere, as we received the most latest information this morning. We have faith and trust in the men who have come to help us."

Tuchel went on to say: "We're going to push things as far as they can go. The situation hasn't changed in a few weeks, and now isn't the time to go through it again; instead, we're looking for answers from this point on. I believe in the guys and am optimistic that we will put in a strong showing."
